Is media consolidation a threat? 

Consolidated media has subtle, negative effects on culture by limiting the diversity of content and, in turn, shaping a homogenous society.

Here at the beginning of the 21st century, we are living at the height of the Information Age and, believe it or not, our access to fair and uncensored information itself is under attack.


In 2005, there are 5 major corporations that own almost every mainstream media source in the United States. These 5 corporations, commonly known as the Big Five, aren't simply 5 seperate entities competing with one another. On a very fundamental level, by buying interest in each other's companies, they form form a unique system of control, collectively determining everything published, printed, and broadcasted between them.
