Can body odor deny you books?

In 1990, the American Library Association passed a policy to treat everyone equally. Today, libraries across the US continue to deny, limit and/or discourage patronage from the poor, especially the homeless. In fact, many libraries use symptoms of poverty such as "offensive body odor" as an excuse to discriminate.

Sanford Berman outlines seven ways to help libraries change their perspective on poverty.
